ALOFT AeroArchitects Recaps a Successful Year in Hangar MRO and Engineering/ODA Services
GEORGETOWN, DE (October 21, 2024) – ALOFT AeroArchitects had an outstanding year, reaching significant company milestones and delivering new and innovative customer solutions.
ALOFT delivered its first-ever Boeing Business Jets Max 8 completion, marking its twenty-ninth narrow body airliner VVIP interior completion. ALOFT managed every aspect of the project, from the fully custom design, parts fabrication, material procurement, systems integration, and certification of a sophisticated and technologically-advanced VVIP cabin. The detailed craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology onboard exceeded customer expectations, leading the customer to remark that it was the “highest quality, most exquisite, distinguished, and high-utility interior ever provided in a BBJ." ALOFT CEO Scott Meyer stated, “This completion project was exciting to the ALOFT team because it allowed us to ‘reawaken and evolve’ our years of similar project experience with innovative technology solutions and seamless integration." Meyer explained, “The goal on every project is to raise the bar by pursuing higher levels of technology integration while simultaneously pursuing lighter weight and quieter cabins.”
ALOFT has also performed maintenance and modifications on numerous additional Boeing Business Jets so far in 2024, which includes several 12-year maintenance visits and significant interior systems upgrades. Two of the serviced BBJs underwent their second 12-year maintenance inspection and were inducted with aging original cabin systems that needed modernization. In recent years, ALOFT has monitored the growing need for a modular, open-source approach to cabin interior systems so that obsolete or aging technologies can be replaced, component by component, or as subsystems in the future with relative ease. ALOFT is investing significant energy to align with like-minded industry supplier partners on the development of common integration approaches, which will allow ALOFT and all MROs to manage the integration so that innovative suppliers can focus intently on product excellence.
In the background, the ALOFT team has spent the year preparing for a forthcoming increase in demand for its industry-leading Auxiliary Fuel Systems (AFS) installations on government-operated 737 commercial derivatives, delivering AFS kits for COMAC for the ARJ21 platform, and preparing for the first BBJ Select project.
The ALOFT Organizational Designation Authorization (ODA) has amended/issued 12 STCs and 24 Minor Change Approvals this year for third parties and supports all internal ALOFT projects with the significant benefit of clear and effective timelines for STC issuance.
“Our internal ODA team has been at the ‘forefront of supporting third-party STCs,’” explains Scott Nietzel, ALOFT Vice President of Engineering, Certification, and ODA. ALOFT is approved to support all Part 23, 25, 27, and 29 aircraft and routinely supports various projects, from aerodynamic drag reduction technologies to its core expertise in certifying the evolving technology for onboard connectivity. According to Nietzel, “ALOFT is supporting a growing group of customers to deliver remarkable technologies to market and helping our clients grow their markets.”
ALOFT’s collaborative and flexible approach, combined with its customizable ODA+ cadre of a la carte services, resonates with clients. The increasing number of commercial aircraft entering service is creating numerous opportunities for ALOFT to act as an expert partner to guide clients through the complex path to fielded aviation products.
